Biography

Management School ESSCA

Alejandro holds a position of professor, and since 2016 he acts as associate editor of the journal  Business Ethics: A European Review.

Since 2020, Alejandro acts as a doctoral supervisor in the DBA program at Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands.

He is a well-travelled academic with a significant international track-record, whose pathway to ESSCA has gone through different continents. Alejandro completed his PhD in Spain, at the Complutense University of Madrid, before embarking on a post-doctoral fellowship at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

From there, he spent a year as lecturer at Hansung University in South Korea, while completing a research visit to the University of Sheffield (UK). He joined ESSCA in 2011, and in 2015 he seized an opportunity at Monash University Business School in Melbourne, Australia, coming back to ESSCA after a while.

Alejandro’s teaching and research interests fall within the intersection of organizational economics and business ethics. This combination allows him to tap into the novel area of social enterprises, which requires both a factual assessment of enterprise mechanisms and a value judgment that such mechanisms convey certain social benefits.

Ultimately, what drives his research is the desire to obtain a better understanding of the upsides and downsides of the market economy and the ways to improve it.
