Dr. Alexei Wagner is an emergency physician faculty member at Stanford, where the focal point of his work has been developing and implementing new technology and care delivery models that improve clinical care and enhance the patient and provider experience. Concurrent with his work at Stanford, he collaborates with various teams in Silicon Valley’s startup and med-tech communities who are ambitiously driving the modernization of healthcare delivery.

Dr. Wagner's teaching and research focus on innovation and human-centered design. Digital health as a tool to change care delivery is of particular importance and interest. Dr. Wagner currently teaches within the Hasso Platner Institute of Design (d.school) and within the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign.

As a Medical Director within Stanford’s Department of Emergency Medicine, he spearheads digital health initiatives and builds strategic partnerships with tech companies such as Facebook to expand non-clinical revenue and research. Dr. Wagner is a member of the leadership team managing the day-to-day operations of the ED and directing strategic initiatives such as the launch of Stanford's first walk-in clinic.

For several years he served as an innovation advisor and clinical business development lead to One Medical, a technology-driven healthcare practice. Dr. Wagner held the position of Consulting Researcher at Microsoft exploring ways to improve internet and mobile health search leveraging predictive machine learning algorithms.
