Kelley School of Business

Alfonso conducts research to support humanitarian operations management. His award winning research has informed the practice of logistics at the Red Cross Movement, World Food Programme and World Vision International. He publishes in a number of recognized peer-reviewed journals and serves as Senior Editor at Production and Operations Management (POM).

He has served as guest editor of special issues on humanitarian logistics at the Journal of Operations Management, the European Journal of Operational Research and POM. At the Kelley School of Business – Indiana University, Alfonso has taught logistics and supply chain management at the undergraduate, MBA and PhD levels. He holds a PhD in Management from INSEAD, France.

Before pursuing his PhD, Alfonso was a junior faculty at Uniandes School of Management in Colombia, where he taught optimization, simulation and data mining. Prior to his academic career, he worked five years on humanitarian logistics and sustainable operations in Colombia.
