Alfredo Behrens

Alfredo Behrens holds a Ph.D. by University of Cambridge. He currently is the President, Strategy Board of the Universidade Fernando Pessoa, Oporto, and supervises MBA dissertations at FIA Business School, Brazil.

Alfredo also facilitates Leadership Development events for Harvard Business Publishing, and lives in Oporto, Portugal.

Dr. Behrens has advised board top members of Brazilian leading banks like Itaú and Bradesco, world leading pharma companies like GSK, Bayer, Sanofi, Isdin and Bensins, manufacturing companies like Volkswagen, entertainment companies like TimeWarner and Diverti, energy ones like Duke Energy and Nordex, mining ones like Nexa Resources and Anglo American, high tech ones like Honeywell and world leading maritime companies like Gearbulk. Dr. Behrens has also addressed Central Banks, governments, the military, journalists, academics, parliamentarians and unions in countries in transitions like South Africa, the Russian Federation, Belarus, Ukraine, and others of the former Soviet Union.

Besides an accomplished thought leader, Dr. Behrens is a renowned public speaker. This talent was built over years of lecturing for some of the world’s top academic institutions, at which he has been distinguished as a most accomplished lecturer.

An irrepressible communicator, Dr. Behrens writes frequently for Harvard Business Review, and also writes for the Financial Times, Clarín of Buenos Aires, El Universal of Mexico City, AmericaEconomia of Chile, PeopleMatters of New Delhi, and SudamericaHoy, of Madrid, among many others. Dr. Behrens is also a member of the Association of Journalists and Writers of Porto, Portugal.

Alfredo Behrens has lectured at or consulted for Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School; University of California at Berkeley; and for business schools such as London Business School, Katz, Thunderbird, London School of Economics, Imperial College, ESCP Europe, Deusto and IME in Spain and Insper in São Paulo.

Dr. Behrens was awarded several prizes not least among them for books on Cross-Cultural Leadership and Management issues, also published through Stanford University Press. He has contributed with many chapters in several books and written over thirty scientific papers.

Alfredo Behrens' most recent book; Gaucho Dialogues was tops in ILBA 2018 book awards and was also nominated to be screened as a TV series. Alfredo Behrens was also awarded (2012) a prize by the Brazilian Meteorological Society, signaling that Professor Behrens’ work begins to transcend the boundaries of business studies. He also received awards from the McNamara Fellowship by the World Bank, the Hewlett fellowship by Princeton University, The Boa Vista Bank award, and the Jean Monet Fellowship by the European University, Fiesole, Italy, as well as several teaching awards by students.
