Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Psychology (2000 – Loughborough University), Master’s degree (University of St Andrews), Bachelor diploma (University of Nottingham). Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a registered psychologist.

Until 2018, Alistair Cheyne headed the international relations and accreditation at the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University.

His research focuses mainly on applied social and organizational psychology. Current active research themes include organizational culture and climate, the impact of culture on various work groups, organizational cultures for safety, assessing and modeling employee attitudes in the workplace, and intercultural comparisons in the workplace. He is internationally recognized as an expert in the assessment and usefulness of attitudes towards safety, the safety climate and the safety culture in organizations.

He obtained competitive grants / financial assistance from a variety of sources, including British and Spanish research councils, British government agencies and several large multinationals, for a total funding of over €1.8 million for research projects.

He has published articles in The British Journal of Management, Journal of Organisational and Occupational Psychology, Work and Stress, Safety Science, and Human Relations.

He has designed, developed and implemented various curricula at different levels. He has extensive teaching experience in several undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate courses. He has also studied doctoral programs and theses at universities in the United Kingdom, Spain, Canada and Australia. He mainly teaches social psychology and human resources subjects.
