Mr. Ramunni is a full time instructor in residence for the University of Connecticut teaching core accounting and financial literacy courses. He is also the senior partner of Ramunni & Riiska CPA’s, LLC, a certified public accounting firm he founded in early 1982. Since 1972, he has worked in the field of finance and public accounting in various positions and capacities. He has many years of real world practical experience working with individuals, small business owners, partnerships, for profit and nonprofit corporations and has an extensive background of experience from working in the banking industry as a member of the board of directors of Litchfield Bancorp and the Connecticut Mutual Holding Company. His experience includes the installation of accounting systems, creation of business plans, personal financial plans, tax planning and general business counseling. He personally managed the business of his own accounting firm as well as the purchase and management of an 8500 square foot commercial real estate property located in Canaan CT. In September 1998, he began teaching as an adjunct instructor in the School of Business at the University of Connecticut campus in Waterbury, CT. He also taught as an adjunct at Northwest Connecticut Community College for several years during this period as well. Currently, he spends approximately 5% of his time in a commitment to his accounting practice which takes place mainly on weekends and other “off” hours. Mr. Ramunni’s experience as a CPA in public practice combined with his abilities as a teacher continues to support him and maintains his status as an innovative teacher. His goal is to impart the benefits of his professional experience to students, thereby helping them learn the applicable course material and encouraging them to seek careers in business. In line with those goals, in 2007 he introduced a new course on financial literacy called “Me, Myself and My Money” for UConn at the Waterbury campus. The course has been highly successful and continues to run as of this writing. In 2012 he added an additional course with the same title but as a level two version where the material presented goes into greater depth in the form of case studies.
