Biography

Anne Hyland read Music and Modern Irish at University College Dublin (UCD), before pursuing a Masters in Musicology with Julian Horton, and a PhD at King''s College, University of Cambridge with Nicholas Marston. Her doctoral thesis, entitled ''Tautology or Teleology? Towards an Understanding of Repetition in Franz Schubert''s Instrumental Chamber Music'' was supported by an AHRC doctoral award, a National University of Ireland Travelling Studentship, and a European Research Studentship awarded by King''s College. 

Anne joined the Music Department at the University of Manchester as Lecturer in Music Analysis in September 2014. Previous appointments included Lecturer in Music at Royal Holloway, University of London (2012-14) and Trinity College, Dublin (2011-12).

Anne was editorial assistant for _Music Analysis_1468-2249/homepage/EditorialBoard.html) from 2010-2016, and is the incoming Critical Forum Editor for the journal from January 2017. She is an advisory editor for _The Musicology Review. _Anne sat on the Council of the Society for Musicology in Ireland from 2012-15, an remains an active member of the SMI.
