Antoni Comín Oliveres

Antoni Comín holds a degree in Philosophy and Political Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a postgraduate degree in Liberal Arts from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), where he also attained a PhD at the university’s Humanities Institute. Comín has also received higher education in Piano and Music Theory from the Escola de Música de Barcelona.

An associate professor at ESADE since 2001 and a teacher at the Sagrat CorDiputació School in Barcelona from 1997 until 2003, Comín has an extensive academic vocation and has written several publications in the field of social science. Recent publications include “Democracia Económica. Hacia una alternativa al capitalismo” (2011), “Vèncer la crisi: socialdemocràcia i més Europa” and “Governabilitat democràtica global. Proposta d’organització institucional” (2007).

Antoni Comín has been a Member of the Parliament of Catalonia from 2003 until 2010, during which he served as president of the Petitions Committee, vice president of the Parliamentary Study Committee on Globalization, spokesman for the Cooperation and Solidarity Commission and deputy spokesman for the Economy Commission. Additionally, he was a member of the Labour, Industry and Trade Committee as well as the Youth Committee.

Comín frequently contributes to RAC1, ARA, El País and El Ciervo magazine, among others media outlets, and is a supporting member of the Alfonso Comín Foundation as well as a member of other institutions, including the Centre for Christian and Justice Studies in Barcelona, the Catalonia-Europe Foundation advisory council and the Catalunya Segle XXI Foundation, which he also serves as vice president.
