António Alvarenga

António is an International Consultant, Professor and Researcher that has been working in the Foresight/Scenarios, Strategy and Innovation fields for the past 20 years with different responsibilities. He is the Founder and CEO of ALVA R&C, a consulting company specialized in Foresight, Scenario Planning, Strategy and Innovation.

Adjunct Associate Professor at Nova SBE (course: "Strategic Foresight and Scenario Planning") and ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management (2017/2018 Honourable Mention Award - "Excellent Professor"; course "Competitive Intelligence"). Coordinator of Foresight, Planning and Scenarios executive courses at INA - Portuguese National Administration Institute. Researcher at CEG-IST (UL) and IHC (FCSH, UNL). Member of the Advisory Board of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM), IST.

He holds a PhD in Management Sciences at the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. He is internationally trained in Strategic Foresight (PREST – University of Manchester, Futuribles, Coates & Jarret, Outsights, Fuld & Company). He graduated in Economics (Porto University ‒ Faculty of Economics), has an MA in European Economic Studies (College of Europe ‒ Bruges) and holds a Master in Strategy (ISCSP ‒ Lisbon).

Previously Adjunct Associate Professor at IST - Instituto Superior Técnico ("Scenario Analysis"), Director of the Department of Strategies and Economic Analysis of the Portuguese Environment Agency, Rapporteur for the Portuguese Green Growth Commitment, Director of the Department of Innovation and Strategic Sectors of the Lisbon City Council, and Director of the Strategic Foresight Unit of the Portuguese Department of Foresight and Planning.
