Biography
-
Dr. Arghya Banerjee completed his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2016. His Ph.D focussed on understanding the structure of the cobalt catalyst under reaction conditions during the Fischer-Tropsch reaction using first principle quantum chemical tools like Density Functional Theory (DFT). After his Ph.D, he joined the Department of Chemical and Bio-medical Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as a post-doctoral fellow where his work focussed on the design of suitable catalysts for the upgradation of bio-oil obtained from biomass pyrolysis.
He returned to India in November, 2017 and joined the Gasification and Liquefaction Research Division at CSIR-CIMFR, Dhanbad as Scientist. He was associated with BITS, Pilani as an Assistant Professor from April 2019 to July 2020. He joined IIT Ropar in July 2020. His research expertise is in the field of molecular modelling based catalyst design. His current research interests include catalyst design for catalytic conversion of CO2/syngas and biomass derivatives to chemicals and fuels.
