Zicklin School of Business

Armen Hovakimian is a professor of finance in the Bert W. Wasserman Department of Economics and Finance at the Zicklin School of Business. Dr. Hovakimian’s research involves analyses of various aspects of corporate finance and financial institutions, including corporate capital structure, credit ratings, seasoned and initial debt and equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, financial analyst forecasts, deposit insurance, and commercial banks’ risk-taking behavior. He has presented at a number of international conferences and has been published in top academic and practitioner finance journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, Journal of Business, Journal of Portfolio Management, and Financial Analysts Journal. He has received an Institute for New Economic Thinking Research Grant, an FDIC Center for Financial Research Award, and a Eugene M. Lang Fellowship. Dr. Hovakimian has also worked with the UBS Investment Bank in New York City as a visiting scholar. He also holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, an MBA from American University of Armenia, and a PhD in finance from Boston College.
