Dr. Athena K. Petrides is the Medical Director for Pathology Informatics and Assistant Medical Director of Clinical Chemistry in the Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She also holds the rank of Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. After obtaining a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, she completed a Clinical Chemistry fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she focused on developing mass spectrometry assays as well as process improvement initiatives for pre-analytical workflows. Dr. Petrides has continued her work in process improvement by streamlining and adapting existing laboratory workflows to better integrate technological innovations. She has published in several journals on her process improvement work including the International Journal of Medical Informatics (Elsevier) and the American Journal of Clinical Pathology (Oxford Academic).
