Axel Sande

Axel Sande is a communication designer, researcher, and professor.

Ph.D. in Design at PUC-Rio (Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro) with full Ph.D. scholarship from CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). Master's in Design at ESDI/UERJ (Superior School of Industrial Design / State University of Rio de Janeiro). Bachelor's in Art Education with a specialization in Art History at UERJ (State University of Rio de Janeiro).

Since the 90s, he's been working as a designer, art director and graphic artist in Brazil, Portugal, and the United States. Between the years of 2006 and 2012, Axel Sande was a member of the prestigious Society of Illustrators, located in New York City. Currently, he is associated with the Brazilian Society of Graphic Designers and is a creative director at his own design studio – Gabinete de Artes – specializing in communication design for record companies, book publishers, advertising agencies, human resources, and corporate communication departments.

Among the Gabinete de Artes' list of clients are EMI Music, Coca-Cola, McCann-Erickson and the Brazilian Olympic Committee.

As an educator, consultant, and researcher, Axel Sande develops his studies in design with special emphasis on the concepts of project synthesis, the language of form and user experience. He works as a consultant and professor at Fundação Dom Cabral, SENAC, IED and at PUC-RJ. Among the courses he teaches are the postgraduate degree in Design of the European Design Institute and the design graduations of PUC-Rio and SENAC. In 2015, he was appointed Embajador del Diseño Latino by the University of Palermo, Argentina.
