Background
Barbara Pierce joined the faculty at the University of South Carolina''s Darla Moore School of Business in Summer 2016. She holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Louisville, an MPA from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and a Ph.D. from Indiana University. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., Pierce spent three years as controller of Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, two years as a health care consultant with Arthur Young and five years as an auditor with Arthur Young (now E&Y). Prior to joining USC, she most recently served as associate dean at Florida Institute of Technology and the chair of the accounting, finance and economics department at Winthrop University.
Research
Her research interests include financial accounting and reporting, judgment and decision-making related to financial information and pedagogy-different effect from accounting class schedules.
