Bart Leten

Professor Innovation Management at University of Hasselt/Professor Innovation Management at KU Leuven

Bart studies corporate innovation strategies. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and his research has been published in various leading international journals and books on innovation management. His research has shown that firms can improve the efficiency of their innovation activities by constructing portfolios of related technologies and by making smart location choices for (new) innovation activities. Another key insight is that intellectual property (IP) plays a crucial role in open innovation strategies as IP arrangements determine the amount of value that open innovation partners can appropriate. His current research focuses on the effectiveness and management of open innovation projects (in close collaboration with Philips Research) and the renewed strategic role of corporate venturing.
