Associate Professor of Business Economics Degrees:PhD, University of California Los Angeles MA, University of California Los Angeles MA, Pontificia Universidade Catolica - Rio de Janeiro BA, Universidade de Sao Paulo Bernardo Blum is an Associate Professor of Business Economics at Rotman. He teaches an MBA course in International Economics. Bernardo’s research falls into three broad areas: international trade, where his work examines the determinants of international trade patterns and the economic institutions that facilitate trade; urban economics, where his work examines the impact of urban agglomeration on the productivities of, and so returns to, different kinds of skills; and the determinants of income inequality.

Research and Teaching Interests
Teaches the first year MBA course in International Economics. His research falls into one of three broad areas. One area is in international trade, where his work examines the determinants of international trade patterns and the economic institutions that facilitate trade. A second area is in urban economics, where his work examines the impact of urban agglomeration on the productivities of, and so returns to, different kinds of skills. A final set of papers examines the determinants of income inequality.
