Bert de Muynck [1977] is an architect, writer and – together with Mónica Carriço – director of Shanghai-based MovingCities. Movingcities is an independent research organization investigating the role that architecture and urbanism play in shaping the contemporary city.

Currently Bert is a Lecturer at the Department of Architecture at the Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. From 2011 to 2014, he was Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong – Faculty of Architecture, and that in the HKU Shanghai Study Center.

In the past decade Bert de Muynck lived and worked in Amsterdam [2001-2006], Beijing [2006-2009] and Shanghai [2009-…]. He holds and MA Architectural Engineering [Catholic University Leuven, BE] and a GAS Cultural Sciences [Free University Brussels, BE].

Bert is working together with Shanghai Flaneur since 2013.
