Smith School of Business
Blake Steenhoven is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.
He earned his PhD in Management from Cornell University, and also holds an MS in Management from Cornell University and a BBA from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
His research focuses on the judgment and decision making of investors, managers, and other capital market participants in financial disclosure settings, using experimental and qualitative methods. His recent work focuses on verbal and nonverbal behavior in financial communications, with the overarching goal of helping managers communicate more effectively. His research has been published in leading academic journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Journal of Accounting Research.
Before beginning his graduate studies, he worked as an auditor for KPMG in Seattle, Washington, where he is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
