Moser-Weithmann first completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk in Munich. She then studied Oriental Studies at the Universities of Munich and Istanbul and received her doctorate in 1980. Research stays have taken her to Iran, Tunisia and Turkey.
From 1987 to 2003 she taught Turkish at the University of Passau, since 2003 she teaches Turkish (and Arabic) at the Language Centre of the University of Munich. She is also a lecturer in the "History and Culture of the Arab Countries" at the Munich Business School.
As the owner of Orient Competence in Passau, she has been offering consulting services for business and industry in intercultural communication for the Arabic and Turkish cultures and Iran since 2003. In addition, Moser-Weithmann is the author of several books on the language and regional studies of Turkey. She is a member of the German-Turkish Association of Bavaria.
