Biography
Carissa Ma received her BA in English from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and her Master of Studies in English from the University of Oxford, focusing on the period 1900 to the present. Her areas of interest include feminist theory, postcolonial anglophone literatures and ecocriticism. She is particularly interested in studying women writers in the genre of the urban realist Indian fiction, with an emphasis on impunity, caste, institutional violence and the vexed state of moral judgement in contemporary India. She also enjoys reading about speculative realism and object-oriented ontology; writers she is fond of include Arundhati Roy, Donna Haraway, Karen Barad, Timothy Morton and Graham Harman.
