Biography
Carl Luft is a professor emeritus in the Department of Finance & Real Estate at the Driehaus College of Business. Before taking emeritus status in 2019, Luft served as the academic director of the Arditti Center for Risk Management and associate professor of finance. After joining DePaul in 1982, Luft taught courses in risk management, derivatives pricing, international finance, investments and financial statement analysis. Luft was associated with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange from 1987 through 2008 where he taught courses in money markets and futures pricing, interest rate hedging and foreign exchange trading.
From 1990 to 2000, Luft served as DePaul University's program administrator for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange/DePaul University Futures and Options Certificate Program. In 2012, he became the program administrator for the DePaul/Chinese Financial Futures Exchange Program which provided extensive instruction in applied derivatives for executives at the Chinese Financial Futures Exchange. In 2016, Luft accepted an appointment to join the National Introducing Brokers Association's advisory board.
Luft has also consulted with various Chicago trading firms in derivative pricing. He has also published books and articles on derivative instruments, hedging and alternative investments.
