Carlos Santiago-Caballero, D. Phil. (LSE) is Associate Professor of Economic History at Universidad Carlos III, Madrid and is affiliated to the Figuerola Institute of Social Sciences. He serves as member of the editorial board of the Revista de Historia Económica / Journal of Iberian and Latin American Economic History.

He has published his work in some of the main scientific journals in economic history including Explorations in Economic History, European Review of Economic History or Revista de Historia Económica / Journal of Iberian and Latin American Economic History. His main interests include growth in the long run, preindustrial economic inequality, and the effects of climate changes in the past. He is currently working on the reconstruction of the Spanish economy during its industrialisation, the effects of globalisation and growth on intergenerational social mobility, and the measurement of social capital.
