Biography

Dr. Charles Weber, Associate Professor, joined the Department of Engineering and Technology Management in 2002. He is an active dissertation adviser and committee member for PhD students, as well as an academic adviser for more than 100 graduate students. Since 2003, Dr. Weber has been awards chair for the PICMET conference. He also advises and acts as a consultant to startup firms.

Previous experience includes 15 years in the semiconductor industry with the Hewlett-Packard Company. Starting as a process engineer in an IC manufacturing facility, he subsequently transferred to HP's IC process development center working in electron beam lithography, parametric testing, microelectronic test structures, photomask design, cleanroom layout, and yield management. From 1996 to 1998, Dr. Weber managed the defect detection project at SEMATECH as an HP assignee. In 2003, his Ph.D. dissertation, titled "Rapid Learning in High-Velocity Environments", was awarded runner up for the INFORMS-TIMES Best Dissertation Award. In 2013, Dr. Weber held the Fulbright-Hall Chair at the Vienna University for Economics and Business. Since joining ETM, he has taught 10 graduate courses, and 2 undergraduate courses; authored or co-authored over 200 papers in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, presentations at conferences and industry events; and been editor or co-editor of four special editions in journals and two books.
