Harvard Business School
Charles F. Wu is an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School. Since first joining the faculty as a Lecturer in 2007, he has taught real estate investing/finance to over 2,000 MBA and Executive Education students. He has published over 30 cases and teaching notes for class use throughout the world. He retired from his institutional investing career in 2016 where he was a Managing Director of BayNorth Capital, formally the Real Estate group of Charlesbank Capital Partners, which was previously the private equity and real estate investment unit of Harvard Management Company. Before joining HMC in 1995, Mr. Wu was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Aldrich, Eastman & Waltch (AEW). During the early 1990s, he created, directed, and managed the company’s workout department. Prior to that, he was employed at Morgan Stanley as a Corporate Finance specialist in New York and San Francisco.
Mr. Wu has 33 years of commercial real estate experience investing/managing on behalf of institutional clients over $4 billion of equity for properties valued at over $15 billion throughout the world. He currently serves on the Board of a publicly traded REIT, is a Director of a Maine-based bank, and is a Trustee for the University of Massachusetts’ 5 school system. He recently retired as Vice-Chair of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, was the past President of the Newton Schools Foundation, former Chairman of the Economics Sub-committee of the Massachusetts Asian American Commission, and a Founding Director of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy.
Mr. Wu holds a bachelor's Degree in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, and a master's in Business Administration with distinction from Harvard University.
