Synthetic and non-equilibrium condensed matter
Topological signatures are widespread in various synthetic topological metamaterials and non-equilibrium setups, with potential applications in photonics and electronics. Non-equilibrium effects lead to a number of new phenomena such as unconventional critical scaling behavior and emergent non-locality that modifies conventional bulk-boundary correspondences.
Specific directions include:
- non-Hermitian dynamics and phase transitions
- Floquet engineering of new phases
- topological photonics, mechanics and circuits
- topology of non-linear dynamics
- non-equilibrium complex networks
- dynamical nonlinear real-world phenomena, including epidemics
Strongly correlated systems
My group also explores the intriguing interplay of energetics and topology on strongly interacting particles. Current directions include:
- realization of non-abelian particles for topological quantum computing
- holography, entanglement entropy and conformal field theory
- fractional quantum Hall systems and Chern insulators
- condensed matter simulations on quantum computers (IBM Q)
