Christine Capilouto is a lecturer at the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, where she teaches a timely capstone titled “What Future for Tax Haven Mauritius in the Wake of the Panama Papers?”
She is a director and founder of Swale House Partners, a boutique consultancy firm that uses a 360 degree approach (ranging from strategic planning, risk management, capacity development, sustainable program implementation, to integrated professional services) to support governments going through natural resource transitions.
Christine specializes in transaction advisory services in the extractives sector. She has in-depth experience advising private and government entities on legal and commercial arrangements for the development of natural resources in Africa, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Europe and North America. Examples of her work include negotiating multi-million dollar petroleum and mining agreements, representing national oil companies (NOCs) on various matters related to their commercial arrangements for cross-border oil and gas transit pipelines, providing commercial and regulatory support to governments’ efforts to develop a domestic energy market, and advising on the creation of national resource funds. She has also worked on a wide variety of matters related to investments in energy infrastructure.
Capilouto has a M.B.A. from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth (2010), a LL.M. in European Law and Economic Analysis from the College of Europe, Belgium (2005), and a License of Law from the University of Panthéon-Assas Paris 2, France (2003). She was admitted to the bar in Paris, France.
