Biography

Schulich School of Business

I developed and teach the Master's level class Historical Perspectives on the Industry at Schulich's Master's of Real Estate and Infrastructure program. The course covers the long-term relationship between Canada's real estate industry and the broader economy and market cycles, changes in tenants needs in the retail, industrial and office sectors and how the industry has been shaped by the gradual evolution of technology, society and government policy -- as much can be squeezed into 12 classes.

I led the creation of the land development strategy for the 140 acres of York University-owned lands outside of the 'academic core' of its main campus in northwestern Toronto. The strategy included up to 14M new square feet of residential, office and retail space that will transform York's Keele Campus into a thriving urban environment, connected to the City by the Spadina Subway extension.

Also with YUDC, I managed the ongoing improvements to and releasing of York Lanes and worked on a variety of other projects including the 2015 Pan Am Track and Field Stadium and "the Quad", an 800-bed student residence and mixed-use development.

I taught the MBA-level course in Retail and Commercial Development to full and part-time students at the Ted Rogers School of Management. The course included current issues in and development principles of retail and commercial real estate including the context of property markets, the various asset types, green buildings, typical transactions in retail and office (and other) markets, as well as planning, local governance issues and dealing with local stakeholders.
