Biography

Harris School of Public Policy

Cindy Huang is a lecturer at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, where she teaches a course on global forced displacement policy and practice. Cindy has over 20 years of experience leading humanitarian and global development efforts across government and non-profit sectors. She is currently a senior fellow at the Center for Global Development (CGD). Previously, Cindy served as the Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement at the Department of Health and Human Services, where she led the humanitarian response to the arrival of a historic number of unaccompanied children from Central America and oversaw the delivery of social and integration services to Afghan evacuees in the US. Cindy has also served in senior leadership roles at the State Department, Millennium Challenge Corporation, and Refugees International.

Cindy holds a PhD in sociocultural anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master in Public Affairs from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband, two children, and two kitties.
