Biography

David Eccles School of Business

Dr. Claudia Geist (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and the Division of Gender Studies. She completed her undergraduate education in Germany and received her Ph.D. from Indiana University. Her research focuses on gender, family, and inequality. Dr. Geist uses primarily quantitative research in her work and is committed to improving how surveys measure gender and sexuality. She has published on the domestic division of labor, co-authored a book on family definitions, and is currently engaged in research on pregnancy intentions with colleagues from the University of Utah Health Division of Family Planning.
