The Robert H. Smith School of Business
Cristian Dezső is an Associate Professor in the Logistics, Business and Public Policy department at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business, an M.A. in economics from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, and a B.A. in business from the “Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj, Romania. Prior to joining the Smith School, he was an associate with the economic consulting firm Cornerstone Research in Washington DC. Cristian is an award-winning instructor and teaches the core Global Economic Environment course and the Public Policy and Business Opportunities elective in the MBA program. His research examines the impact of top managers on firm policies and performance, with a particular emphasis on gender-related issues. In addition, his applied game theory research examines issues related to firm reputation, technology adoption, and international firm expansion. His research appears in leading academic journals like the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Financial Economics, and Administrative Science Quarterly, and has been widely featured in media such as New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Economist, and McKinsey Quarterly.
