Biography
University of Stellenbosch Business School
Dale's business experience ranges from executive level at Standard Chartered Bank (he headed up their retail business in South Africa until 2006) to an internet start-up business with two phone books, a computer and an empty office in the 1990's. Later, he and his partners successfully sold this business to a JSE listed company.
After leaving Standard Chartered he retired from corporate life and started building a portfolio of business and life interests.
He brings an inherent understanding of people and cultures, informed both by growing up in South Africa and from his work in AIESEC when in his early 20's he was selected to work on the International Secretariat based in Brussels, Belgium. He was fortunate to travel globally, working in diverse and often challenging conditions.
Dale's portfolio of activities revolve around the central theme of bringing out the best in people through a focus on strategy and brand. He invests in individuals and businesses for mutual benefit. Dale's investment comes as time, expertise or money and he looks for a return in learning, experience or financial gain.
Executive Coaching is an important part of Dale's portfolio life as it gives him an opportunity to fulfill two of his passions, meeting fascinating people and working with challenging and strategic business issues.
Scenario planning and facilitating strategic conversations for executive business teams complement his executive coaching. He convenes the Business Strategy course at the University of Cape Town for final year Business Science students and lectures masters level students who are studying to be coaches.
Dale is married and has two young daughters. He counts himself fortunate that he can spend quality time with his family most days while still building his portfolio life.
