Biography

Stephen M. Ross School of Business

Dan joined Ceres in 2000, and has helped launch and accelerate the electric power sector’s efforts to address the risks and opportunities associated with climate change. Dan oversees Ceres’ electric power sector research, shareholder engagement, and furthers the understanding of environmental risks, with a particular focus on climate risk. He works to convene Ceres Investor Network and Ceres Coalition members, to engage in dialogues with electric power companies, which often involve a comprehensive review of policies, performance, and disclosure practices.

Since 2002, Dan has helped Ceres publish numerous reports, including 11 editions of Benchmarking Air Emissions of the 100 Largest Electric Generators; Practicing Risk-Aware Electricity Regulation; Pathway to a 21st Century Electric Utility; and Benchmarking Utility Clean Energy Deployment. The reports provide analysis of issues and trends facing the sector.

Dan’s work has been cited extensively in the media, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Financial Times, Fortune, Pensions and Investments, BusinessWeek, the Boston Globe, and he has appeared on CNN Headline News, and CNBC’s Closing Bell and Power Lunch.

Dan is an avid cyclist and rode in the inaugural Northeast Climate Ride from Bar Harbor, Maine to Boston in 2015, helping to raise awareness and funds to tackle climate change. Prior to Ceres, Dan worked as a research associate at Rocky Mountain Institute in Snowmass, CO. Dan holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
