Boston University

Dr. Daniel Alford is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Assistant Dean and Program Director of the Addiction Medicine Residency program at Boston University School of Medicine. He is on staff in the Section of General Internal Medicine. He is a diplomate in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is president-elect of the Association of Medical Education in Research in Substance Abuse. He is the medical director of the Massachusetts Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral and Treatment and the BMC Office-based Opioid Treatment program. He is co-investigator for the National Institute on Drug Abuse funded Chief Resident Immersion Training Program in Addiction Medicine and the Massachusetts Consortium – Center of Excellence for Physician Information on Prescription Drug Abuse. He is course director for the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine’s Safe Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Pain trainings. He was recently recognized as a Champion of Change by the White House.
