Daniel Mann

Adjunct Professor at LaGuardia Community College,

Biography

-

I'm an academic in sociology with extensive teaching and research experience, having worked in both the US and the UK, where I lived for a number of years, both during graduate school and afterwards. My research focuses on the sociology of sport, with a focus on gender, masculinity and rugby, a sport which I’ve played for many years. I also focus on urban sociology, with a particular interest in gentrification and urban planning. My research is firmly qualitative and empirical, with a strong ethnographic focus. On the weekends, my academic interest in sport gets put into practice on the rugby pitch. When not playing rugby, I enjoy traveling, craft beer and exploring one of the world's greatest sociological laboratories—New York City—where I grew up and where I’m still proud to call home.
