Dan Prud'homme is an assistant professor at Florida International University (FIU)’s College of Business (Miami, FL, USA) and a research associate at Duke University's China campus. Previously, he worked at a business school in Paris, France. Prior to joining academia, Dan worked for a decade in Beijing and Shanghai, China, specializing in intellectual property and innovation management, non-market strategies, and international trade. He was a consultant at one of the world’s largest law firms, manager of the IPR and R&D working groups at the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, and an advisor at the EU-China IP Key division of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). In those roles, Dan worked closely with multinational enterprises and local firms, as well as Chinese, EU, and US government officials. Prior to that, Dan worked in the legislature in the US. Dan has formally advised the World Bank, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China's State Intellectual Property Office (now CNIPA), the European Commission, and other organizations. Dan’s research has been cited by the Financial Times, Bloomberg, Reuters, Associated Press, Washington Post, and other news outlets.
After completing his PhD in management, Dan was a visiting research fellow and a teaching fellow at University of Oxford (UK) for a year. He also holds graduate degrees in law and public policy.
