Biography
Stanford University (ONLINE)
I help organizations to innovate and grow by exploring links between emerging technologies, business opportunities and customer needs. My clients grow disruptive new ventures, launching new offers and fostering entirely new ways of doing business. I thrive on:
- developing innovation strategies
- assembling and mobilizing teams to achieve aggressive goals
- balancing the complex needs of multiple internal and external stakeholders, and applying my technical depth to solve a wide variety of challenges and deliver complex products, services and systems to market.
I'm most proud of my work helping global organizations understand how Silicon Valley startup culture can transcend political borders and organizational charts. Of particular value for many clients is my knowledge of emerging technology from Silicon Valley startups.
As a partner at Mach49, I help run a venture incubator focused on helping Global 1000 companies to create and launch new ventures from within their organizations. I leverage the experience from 25 enjoyable years spent at IDEO, most recently as Director of Technology Strategy. In this role I built and managed strategic business relationships with many of IDEO's technology-focused clients such as Cisco, Johns Hopkins and Qualcomm. My work generated hundreds of millions in business value for my clients (and gave me six patents as well).
I received a BS in Engineering Physics (Class of 1982) with honors and an MS in Mechanical Engineering with a controls specialization (Class of 1983) with honors, both from the University of California at Berkeley.
