The College of Engineering: Integrative Systems + Design

Dave LaHote is a retired senior executive and currently an advisor to organizations on leadership, management and Lean implementation. Dave bridges the gap between theory and practice with a common-sense style that is based on his many years of experience leading organizations. Dave has taught executive education classes for 25 years on a wide variety of Lean, strategy development, leadership, and management topics.

From 2006 to 2011, Dave served as President of Lean Education for the Lean Enterprise Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a non-profit research and educational organization founded by author Jim Womack. Dave came to LEI with over 35 years of experience in manufacturing and service companies. Prior to his work at LEI, Dave ran business units at Parker Hannifin, Eaton, and Aeroquip-Vickers Corporations and held senior management positions in marketing, business development, and human resources. His lean experience goes back 25 years when partnered with Toyota, he led the implementation of lean across a diverse $2 billion manufacturing company.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and a Master's degree in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University. Dave is an instructor for the University of Michigan Lean Healthcare program.
