Biography

Center for Technology and Management Education

“Dr. Dave” retired after 35 years of industry experience in engineering and marketing at three advanced database solutions companies. Most recently, at Teradata, he was a recognized subject matter expert for big data, where he developed thought leadership, value propositions, and case studies of exemplar customers using technology in leading practices.

He currently lectures in Caltech's Center for Technology and Management Education data science bootcamps for professional development.

Dr. Dave frequently lectures in university programs instructing students on the power of big data analytics and how it goes beyond the capabilities of typical enterprise data warehouses.

As a “hobby” in 2015, he added sports analytics to his repertoire and began fostering “Moneyball Projects” at universities so that analytically-minded students can advise their college sports teams. Since 2020, he has coached a team of analyst-volunteers engaged in data analytics for political candidates and campaigns.

He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University, his Master’s in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University, and his Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Illinois State University.
