David Maurek

Mr. Maurek retired as the chief operating officer of the Public Employees’ Retirement Association of Colorado (Colorado PERA). In that role he was responsible for managing all aspects of member contacts and benefit administration. Mr. Maurek previously served as manager of strategy and innovation for four years and directed the internal audit department for 15 years. Prior to working at PERA, he worked in audit, budget, control and payment functions for ARCO Oil and Gas Company for 7½ years, and was a senior auditor with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for 4½ years. Since his retirement, Mr. Maurek has consulted on business risks, internal audit department structures and internal controls. He served on the board of governors of the Denver Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and worked with their speaker’s bureau. Mr. Maurek graduated with honors from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and received a master of business administration degree from the University of Colorado. He is a chartered global management accountant and a licensed certified public accountant in Florida, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
