Dawn Adrienne

Adjunct Professor at Drexel University

Biography

-

Dawn Adrienne-Saliba is an Assistant Professor of English at the American University of Malta. She is also engaged in post-graduate studies in Archaeology at the University of Malta, investigating theatrical representation and performative liminality in Malta's Neolithic Temples, particularly Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum and the Xagħra Circle—and how it may point to the Mediterranean Neolithic mythos and manifestations of the feminine divine. She will soon be publishing her monograph entitled King James and the Theater of Witches: Subversion Upon the Jacobean Stage, which synthesizes a cultural-historicist approach to Jacobean witch-dramas. She possesses a PhD in English (Early Modern Drama) from Binghamton University, USA, and holds an MFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Musical Theatre Writing program. Dawn is an award-winning poet and playwright who has produced several productions in the New York City area. Her latest chapbook, Poems from Angkor, is being sold as a fundraiser for the RSP Schools in Cambodia, where she spent a semester volunteer teaching. She also enjoys performing as a singer-songwriter and spoken word performance artist, and is currently leading volunteer Drama and Poetry Arts-in-Education workshops as a joint initiative between the Blue Door English refugee center and the American University of Malta.
