Dr. Higgins is the Director of Pain Psychology in the VA Boston Healthcare System Pain Clinic where she provides evidence-based psychological interventions to treat chronic pain conditions in Veterans. She remains involved with pain management policy and program evaluation at the local, regional, and national levels within VHA. Dr. Higgins has conducted clinical and health services research focused on chronic pain and overweight/obesity. Her current research involves clinical trials of non-pharmacological interventions using technology (e.g., IVR, smartphone applications, Internet) to increase access to evidence-based chronic pain care.
