Diane Bergeron
Research Affiliate at Weatherhead School of Management
Biography
Weatherhead School of Management
Dr. Diane Bergeron received her Ph.D. in Social-Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. Her research areas include job performance (with a focus on organizational citizenship behavior), work productivity and performance, organizational reward systems, career advancement differences between men and women, and the importance of workplace listening.
Her research is published in premier academic journals including the Academy of Management Review, the Journal of Management, and the Best Paper Proceedings of the Academy of Management, among other outlets. One of her papers was a finalist for the ‘Outstanding Publication in Organizational Behavior Award’ (chosen from among 600 papers published in the top ten journals). She won two divisional awards from the Academy of Management for her dissertation research and was a runner-up for the Academy of Management’s Newman Award.
She has presented extensively at conferences on her various research projects. She has also been a guest on the Sound of Ideas (WCPN with Mike McIntyre) and a panelist at the prestigious City Club of Cleveland on the topic of gender equity in the workplace – particularly in terms of pay. More than fifty years after the Equal Pay Act, women continue to earn less money than men.
Before coming to Case Western Reserve, Bergeron was an adjunct instructor at Columbia University and at New York University’s Stern School of Business. While at Weatherhead, she has received many grants, research honors and awards, as well as graduate student teaching and mentoring awards.
In her former life, Diane worked for Pfizer and a New York City consulting firm with numerous Fortune 500 companies. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Academy of Management.
She recently returned to Weatherhead after taking two years off for a family sailing adventure, traveling the East coast of the U.S. and through the Caribbean. Through this experience, she realized she is NOT a natural sailor.
