Research Summary

Divya is a Research Officer in LSE Health and Associate Editor of Globalization and Health. She is currently working on an EC-funded FP7 project Health Inc, investigating social exclusion in health care financing mechanisms in India, Ghana and Senegal. She is a co-applicant on an ESRC-funded project studying social and economic costs of pregnancy termination trajectories in Zambia. Her research interests include health care financing, equity and health systems research in developing countries.

Divya has a PhD from the Institute of Public Health, Heidelberg University, Germany. In her PhD she investigated the causal impacts of community-based health insurance on household assets in rural Burkina Faso. She holds a Masters of Health Sciences in International Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a Masters in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai and an undergraduate degree in Economics from St Stephen''s College, Delhi.

Previously she has worked with PneumoADIP and the World Health Organization on vaccine wastage. In India she has worked as a social worker in the areas of cancer care, adolescent health and substance abuse.
