Biography

Bristol Business School

My research and teaching centres on the exploration of leadership within organisational life. I am also currently responsibe for the development of business and management degree apprenticeships in the Faculty of Business and Law. Since joining UWE in 2008, I have also been involved in strengthening the quality and delivery of the Executive MBA programme, the MSc Leadership & Management programmes and most recently the BA (Hons) Business (Team Entrepreneurship) programme as a programme leader. Prior to commencing my role at UWE, I was Senior Lecturer in HRM & OB with Oxford Brookes University.

Area of expertise My main research focus is on leadership and explores the areas of cultural studies of leadership, discourse and leadership, leadership as identity, psychoanalytic approaches to leadership and the role of national language within cultural leadership studies. I am currently involved in several projects and collaborations related to these different areas with UK and international colleagues in leadership and management studies, history and linguistics. Recent publications on the subject include articles in Leadership, Scandinavian Journal of Management, Management Learning, International Journal of Management Reviews, Human Relations, as well as a textbook on Leadership entitled 'Studying Leadership: Traditional and Critical Approaches' (Sage) - currently in its second edition - and an edited book on Worldy Leadership (Palgrave). A secondary research interest of mine is exploring the nature, purpose and use of blended learning approaches at postgraduate level. I have presented several papers on blended learning and leadership development pedagogy at conferences and published articles on blended learning at postgraduate level in The International Journal of Management Education.
