Biography
Eduardo Pelaez is an architect and co-founder at Aula. His work focuses on social justice projects with communities, critical urban studies of uneven spatial development, learning spaces, and adaptation and disaster risk reduction of vulnerable communities. His work at Aula, an awarded social entrepreneurship, has positively impacted on children’s learning processes through collaborative workshops and co-creation of learning spaces with communities. Eduardo has been a lecturer and teaching assistant on issues to do with architecture, urban development, and landscape at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP), Universidad de Lima, and Harvard Graduate School of Design. As a designer, Eduardo worked at 51-1Architects/Supersudaca, Ministry of Education of Peru, Design for Disasters & Chat Architects in Thailand, and he did internships at the Inter-American Development Bank in Mexico and Kounkuey Design Initiative in Kenia. Pelaez received a Bachelor of Architecture from PUCP, a Master in Design Studies in Urbanism, Landscape, Ecology from GSD Harvard University with a fully funded Peruvian scholarship; and a Public Management Specialization (PUCP) and Project Management specialization at ESAN University. Currently, Eduardo works as Investment Planning Coordinator in the General Directorate of Educational Infrastructure in the Ministry of Education and he teaches Architecture Thesis Theory Seminar at PUCP.
