International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans
Ed Koebel is the chief executive officer and consulting actuary of Cavanaugh Macdonald Consulting, LLC. He has been providing actuarial valuation and consulting services for pension and OPEB systems covering state and local government employees for over 28 years. Koebel’s expertise covers all aspects of public sector benefit consulting, including plan design, legislative impact analysis, asset/liability models, federal compliance issues and GASB requirements. As CEO of CavMac, Koebel leads the day-to-day operations of the firm, is the retirement practice leader, and is responsible for the development and mentoring of their junior staff. He is a frequent speaker at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Georgia Association of Public Pension Trustees (GAPPT), and he has recently presented at the National Council on Teachers Retirement (NCTR) Annual Conference as well as the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (CCA) Enrolled Actuaries Conference. Koebel holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Syracuse University, is an Enrolled Actuary with the Joint Board of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA®) and a fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (FCA).
