Edward Strong

Associate Dean/Associate Professor at Roger Williams University

Biography

-

Professor Strong spent five years in the US Army and two years teaching at INSEAD in France prior to arriving at Tulane University’s Graduate School of Business Administration (later to become the A. B. Freeman School of Business) in 1972. As an intelligence officer assigned to the 8th Special Forces Group, he taught military subjects to Latin American military personnel at locations from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Information technology has been one of his principal interests, since both his father and his grandfather were involved in the newspaper business. His undergraduate work in Psychology at Stanford University was heavily slanted towards communication and his MBA and PhD from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford are in Marketing.

While at the Freeman School he served as Associate Dean (1978 – 1986) and was primarily responsible for the coordination of the design and construction of Goldring/Woldenberg Hall (1983 – 1986). In addition to having taught all the different courses offered by the Marketing area, he also taught computer and information systems classes, serving as webmaster for the school’s first web site in 1995 and offering the school’s first courses in electronic commerce, intranets, and extranets.

In 2005, due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina and the kindness of Rhode Island friends, Professor Strong and his wife relocated to Bristol. He is now Associate Professor Emeritus at the Freeman School and Associate Dean and Associate Professor at the Mario J. Gabelli School of Business at Roger Williams University in Bristol.
