Doctor Elise De is Associate Professor of Surgery, Department of Urology, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Director of Neuro-Urology for Spaulding. She has fellowship training in Neuro-urology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery from the Texas Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR), University of Texas Houston, and MD Anderson. She is Chair of the Education Committee of the International Continence Society.
Dr. De has published numerous articles and book chapters on voiding dysfunction, pelvic reconstruction, neurogenic bladder and pelvic pain, edited a surgical video atlas on pelvic floor reconstruction, and has delivered hundreds of presentations worldwide. Dr. De’s current research focuses on pelvic pain and voiding dysfunction.
Dr. De has just co-published the patient-facing book Facing Pelvic Pain with contributions from 45 authors within 18 disciplines (Anesthesiology, Basic Science, Colorectal Surgery, Gastrointestinal Medicine, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Patient Education, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Psychology, Orthopedics, Pharmacology, Rheumatology, Sex Therapy, Urology, and Vascular Surgery). The authors have all communicated our best information on causes of and therapies for pelvic pain. It has 137 educational images. The aspiration is that it will reach patients who have not found help - and change the course of their pain. This book is available on Amazon and strongly recommended for anyone with pelvic pain.
Dr. De's surgical practice focuses on native tissue repair for incontinence and prolapse, correction of mesh complications, urethral diverticulum, fistula, and options for neurogenic bladder.
