Ms. Eshmawy is a two time Fulbright alternate and the Regional Relocation Specialist in the Division of Community, Planning and Development with the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) in New York City. Emie is a PhD ABD and an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University. She is an urban designer/planner and infrastructure economist focusing on US and MENA region national policy. Emie has rotations at various federal agencies including the Library of Congress, State Department, and HUD. While in DC, Ms. Eshmawy assisted in rule-making regarding the mortgage crisis of 2008. She oversaw major government asset management contracts as a Level III GTR, has spoken at congressionally mandated events and conferences, and assisted in the framing, policy writing, and executing of multiple pilot programs including CWCOT, BSCA, NSP, HAMP and MHA. Emie is currently the point of contact on all 5th Amendment and URA matters for HUD advising region II-NJ/NY. Ms. Eshmawy holds a Masters of Urban Planning from New York University and a Masters of Arts from the American University in Cairo. She has a BA in Political Science, History, and Global Studies from the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on infrastructure economics and urban design in the Arab states. Emie has published for various outlets on social, finance, economic, architecture, urban planning and city design issues by Aramica, the NY-Indy Press, CUNY Graduate Center, MN Star Tribune and the AUC Press. She volunteers often at NYC shelters, and was a Boren, PMF, and RAP finalist and also a two-time Fulbright Fellowship semi-finalist. She has taught at the high school and collegiate levels including lecturing within various Columbia, New School and Fordham university departments.
