Associate
Hollister Staffing
I was placed by Hollister at both of my MIT positions. The first was with the Alumni Association and the second at the Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL). After a trial period I was hired for a permanent position at CTL.
Event Coordinator MIT Alumni Association
I was hired to assist with the annual Family Weekend at MIT. My duties included, but were not limited to; managing/promoting the attendance of multiple events, composing and sending event reminders, updating contact lists, on site assistance, cold calling, website management, and much more. This job required knowledge of excel, patience, and creativity.
Systems
This position has gave me my first peek into the busy corporate world. I learned how to organize meetings for various departments, manage calendars for executives, adjusting to ever changing work environments (I moved desks almost every day, filling in for admins across the entire company), and gained knowledge of planning travel arrangements for employees.
Catering Associate Sodexo
Catering was a valuable experience, which required constant independent thinking/self-motivation, as well as positive teamwork. Excelling at organization was a necessity for the job and I left the company with far more organized work spaces. I learned about the importance of attention to detail and feel very comfortable in the fast-paced catering environment.
America Reads/Counts Tutor Center For Community Based Learning
This position required extreme patience and the ability to adapt to the intricacies of being a mentor to bilingual elementary school children. The majority of the organizations I worked with, through the Center for Community Based learning, had little to no group organization which encouraged independent thinking/actions. One of my tutee's, a ten year old girl, had slipped through the cracks of public education. I made it my mission to help her any way I could and with a lot of hard work i'm proud to say she can read now because of my dedication.
CVS Pharmacy Sales Associate Cashier
Excellent customer service skills were a necessity, as well as the ability to follow a routine.
Boston Ballroom Corp d/b/a Royale Nightclub Event Coordinator Internship
A new spreadsheet with the client call list, as well as other paper records were made digital during the internship. Cold calls were a huge part of this job as well as night-of-event preparation and on-site clean up during the event. I had to sacrifice many nights and weekends for this position, therefore I am not afraid to make that sacrifice again if needed.
Arlington Street Church FNSP
At the Friday Night Supper Program (FNSP) I managed new volunteers. We had a steady check in process as well as a short orientation, these honed my computer skills as well as my public speaking skills. The FNSP is a once a week program that is very tightly run since it is all based on volunteers and is open to any guest who comes in. It was a challenging position that required me to have exceptional people skills, patience, and good time management. This was only a 5 month long internship position, although I continue to volunteer here in my spare time.
In the workplace I am an efficient organizer, can prioritize assignments, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently or in a team environment, and deal with highly confidential information.
- Friendly and positive personality
